T00435 CASA RIGO, LAKE GARDA II 1925
Inscr. ‘M. Bloch 25’ (figures indecipherable) b.l.
Canvas, 36×29 (91·5×73·5).
Purchased from the artist's widow (Grant-in-Aid) 1961.
Exh: Kunstkabinett Hanna vom Rath, Frankfurt-am-Main, June–July 1958 (5) and tour as ‘Haus Rigo (Gardasee)’; Kaplan Gallery, February 1959 (10), as ‘Haus Rigo, Lake Garda II’.
The artist's widow told the compiler (28 November 1961) that Bloch used to spend every summer from May to October during the years 1924–30 at this house with his students. A slightly smaller version of this composition, browner in colour, was included in the Kaplan Gallery exhibition, 1959 (9) as ‘Haus Rigo, Lake Garda I’ and was still in her possession in 1962.
