A study of the artist's wife painted in 1909 on the balcony of his house in Sloane Avenue. The row of houses was subsequently pulled down and large blocks of flats built on the site. The picture was probably given by the artist to Henry Poole, the sculptor, who had modelled a head of the artist's daughter Helen. (Information from Miss Jane Connard, 7 April 1959.)
