T00458TWO FIGURES, SUMMER ‘61 1961
Not inscribed.
Canvas, 60×48 (152·5×122).
Purchased from the artist (Grant-in-Aid) 1961.
Painted in the summer of 1961. The artist has used a resin oil and dispensed with the thick impasto that characterized earlier works such as N06077. The two figures, whilst treated in a Cubist manner, appear to be enveloped in a dense atmospheric haze.
