Catalogue entry

Buildings are roughly indicated near the shore on the left, with the silhouette of a small tower beyond. This is one of a number of studies of hulks (decommissioned, dismasted warships) interspersed with topographical sketches in the Hamoaze and lower reaches of the River Tamar north-west of Plymouth Sound between folios 3 recto and 29 recto (D09671–D09703).
Technical notes:
A small brown stain at the bottom right shows through from the verso (Tate D09673; Turner Bequest CXXXIII 4a) and in turn slightly affects the verso of the previous leaf.
