Catalogue entry

Finberg doubted Turner’s authorship1 of this little drawing in grey and brown washes, an opinion supported by Turner scholar C.F. Bell.2 However, both this and Tate D00708 (Turner Bequest XXIX C), of which they were equally suspicious, seem perfectly convincing; neither is by Thomas Girtin (1775–1802).
