Catalogue entry

Drawn with the page turned horizontally, this is the third of three views over Brotherswater in this book; the others are on the preceding two leaves, folios 62 recto and 63 recto (D01049, D01050; Turner Bequest XXXV 47, 48). Turner has progressed along the road down the east side of the lake, and taken a viewpoint above the Brothers Water Inn, which can be seen, with its sign, in the right foreground. The distant hill is Place Fell, on the far side of Patterdale; see folios 58 recto and 59 recto (D01046, D01047; Turner Bequest XXXV 44, 45).
Verso:
Blank; stamped in brown ink with Turner Bequest monogram; inscribed by A.J. Finberg in pencil ‘141.49’.
