Catalogue entry

This page continues a view from folio 38 verso (D13646; CLXVII 36a) of Edinburgh from Stockbridge in the north-west of the city. On the opposite page is the eastern half of the city from Calton Hill (with Arthur’s Seat behind it) to St Giles’s Cathedral with part of the New Town in front. The present page is dominated by the outline of Edinburgh Castle in front of which the carefully planned Georgian blocks of Edinburgh’s New Town can clearly be discerned.
There is light foxing across the page.
