Catalogue entry

This series of views, executed in sharp and precise line, depicts Hatzenport (‘Hazenport’) and the neighbouring town of Brodenbach (‘Brodenban’) on the Moselle. Hatzenport’s medieval Church of St John can be seen in the uppermost sketch, while in the lowermost, Turner shows the Burg Thurandt at Alken from a distance (see also Tate D19805–D19809; Turner Bequest CCXVI 127a–129a).
