Catalogue entry

This is the right half of a two-page panorama of Plompton Rocks continued from folio 5 verso (D10877) opposite, recording the view looking north from the dam of the lake. The sketch almost exactly revisits the view that Turner recorded in the oil painting, Plompton Rocks (Harewood House)1 painted 1797–8 for Harewood.
For Plompton Rocks in this sketchbook see folio 3 verso (D10873).
