Catalogue entry

Here Turner has made two sketches of the abbey at Flône, looking downstream as he travelled towards Neuville-sous-Huy. The seventeenth-century Junction Tower and dovecote can be seen in both views. Parallel to the gutter of the book is a wide view of the Meuse showing Flône in the distance. For more drawings of Flône see Tate D19619, D19621, D19642, D20086; Turner Bequest CCXVI 34a, 35a, 46a, CCXVII 2.
