Catalogue entry

Inverted relative to the sketchbook’s foliation, this slight study shows sailing boats moored off East Cowes Castle. For more on studies in this sketchbook relating to the regatta events at Cowes from late July 1827 onwards, see the sketchbook Introduction, and for other views of the castle, see under folio 22 recto (D18030).
Technical notes:
There is prominent brown staining, apparently from a spillage, which has been offset onto folio 44 verso opposite (D18074) and soaked through to the verso (D18076).
