At right the right is a brief continuation of the view of the Château de Dieppe on folio 31 recto opposite (D35541); the dome and tower here are those of the church of Saint-Rémy, which can still be seen from the north a little inland from the seafront.
At left, made with the page turned vertically, is a ‘mass of lines’ marked ‘Eu’, which Robert Upstone has described as ‘unidentifiable’,1 although it may be a view of the east end of that town’s Collegiate Church of Notre-Dame and Saint-Laurent, seen more clearly in other drawings; see under folio 21 verso (D35525).
Upstone 1993, p.58.
Technical notes:
There is some brown staining at the gutter and the edge, possibly indicating water damage in the 1928 Tate flood.
