Catalogue entry

This rather rough sketch comes at the end of a short series of views of Abbotsford and the River Tweed (see folio 47; D26186 for details). The turn of the river depicted here suggests a view east from the riverbank opposite Abbotsford, though there is no sign of the house in this sketch. In the distance (or perhaps it is a separate sketch) are the three peaks of Eildon Hill, which lies nearly three miles away to the east.
See folio 47 for more information on Turner’s Abbotsford sketches.
There are pale brown stains at the top edge of this page and across the right.
