Catalogue entry

These three views show the Meuse from mid-stream, most likely near the villages of Flémalle and Chokier (Tate D19611; Turner Bequest CCXVI 30a). Rocky outcrops and steep fertile hillsides characterise this stretch of the valley. Buildings designed in the typical Mosan renaissance style overlook the river, surrounded by lush vegetation and grazing ‘sheep’.
