This view of the Pont de Tours with the Cathedral and Tour de Guise in the distance is one of several sketches on loose paper which Turner made in Tours on his 1826 tour of Northern France. See the Introduction to this section for a list of these works.
The top edge of the sheet is jagged as if torn from a sketchbook. The bottom edge is shorn off at an angle.
See entry for Tate D34685 (Turner Bequest CCXLIV 246 v).
