Catalogue entry

There are four sketches on this page. Across the top half is a view of the Seine at Saint-Cloud. Turner has noted, but not drawn, a ‘figure with plow [plough]’. There is a second view of the Seine and a view back towards Paris, perhaps from Saint-Cloud, at the left edge of the page, drawn with the book turned to the right. See folio 3 verso (Tate D24505; Turner Bequest CCLVIII 3a). Inset into this sketch at the right is small compositional sketch of a tree with a river beyond.
Across the bottom half of the page is a sketch of the cemetery at Montmartre, looking down at the left to Paris in the distance.
