Online caption
This poster of Andy Warhol depicts the artist in a detailed jacket, sunglasses, and his instantly identifiable silver wig. The photograph was perhaps taken at an opening event or party. With Warhol’s obsession with his appearance and the idea of celebrity, this poster was conceivably produced as an act of self-promotion to be plastered around the streets of New York. There is no identifying text – everyone knew what Andy Warhol looked like.
