Charmaine Watkiss

The artist discusses her series Plant Warrior 2021–ongoing, a collection of self-portraits in which she embodies the medicinal properties of specific plants, challenging the marginalisation of Indigenous healing traditions within pharmaceutical culture.

Charmaine Watkiss RWA is a British artist whose practice investigates the botanical legacy of the Caribbean. She is particularly interested in healing traditions handed down through the matrilineal line.
