*Why this list?
We want our Tate Collective Producer group to represent the demographics of young people in London. When we recruit, we aim to break down some of the systemic barriers to a career in museums and galleries. The barriers we’ve identified disproportionately impact people who are underrepresented in our sector, which are most often people from the above groups.

Tate Collective Producer FAQs
Tate Collective Producers are Tate’s inhouse youth collective aged 16–25, who are at the core of the Public Practice team at Tate Britain and Tate Modern.
Our Tate Collective Producer programme offers young people aged 16-25 opportunities to develop skills, knowledge and experience in creative programming in the museum.
Tate Collective Producers work on a range of creative projects designed to connect more young people to museums and art, using Tate’s collection and exhibitions as inspiration.
Being a Tate Collective Producer is a chance to explore art and creativity with your peers and co-produce work with and for young audiences. You don’t need any previous art experience to get involved, just a desire to get creative, experiment and collaborate.
The programme is structured in stages from induction to senior. Your ‘induction’ year is structured over a series of monthly evening meetings. In these sessions we will develop your knowledge of Tate staff, sites and spaces, introduce you to our programme and explore what being a creative producer is all about.
After your ‘induction' year, the training and opportunities we offer are designed to progress you through the stages and build your knowledge and experience. There will be different kinds of opportunities on offer across programme – from researching and developing event ideas in a big group, to leading on programme curation in a pair or small group.
Where we can, tailored to the specific skills or experience you want to develop, we will look for opportunities in other departments at Tate.
Core TCP sessions take place monthly on the last Thursday of the month from 18.00–20.00 at Tate Britain or Tate Modern. The location for each session is shared in advance via email or in person. We occasionally meet offsite.
Other ad-hoc sessions can take place on weekends and evening to fit around studies or work.
New recruits need to be available for each monthly session over the first year (your ‘induction’ year), as well as the two induction sessions in April mentioned above. In following years, there is more flexibility as you work on different projects.
We expect Tate Collective Producers to be in active communication with us and to share if circumstances change that affect the ability to be involved in the programme.
Monthly training sessions are unpaid, but we provide food and can cover London zone 1-6 travelcards to support attendance.
There will be regular paid work opportunities to support on event delivery, as well as office-based programme work.
Tate Collective Producers are paid London Living Wage. If you are successful in your application, you will be set up on payroll (subject to relevant checks) as part of your onboarding.
A wide range of paid opportunities are on offer to Tate Collective Producers, including (but not limited to):
- Event running
- Front-of-house support
- Event curating
- Market research trips
- Programme content development
- Wider Tate project consultations
- Event admin and logistics support
and much more!
It will take you a minimum of 3 years to progress through the stages. You can remain in the programme until you turn 26.
Once you've graduated, we will remain in touch via 'alumni' emails, signposting to current vacancies and relevant freelance work within Tate.
