Artist's Talk: Phillip King in conversation with Jon Wood

27 January 2015 at 18.30–20.00

Phillip King, Genghis Khan 1963. Tate. © Phillip King.

Leading British sculptor Phillip King talks about his life and work, and his new display at Tate Britain. An assistant to Henry Moore and teacher at St Martin’s with Anthony Caro and Eduardo Paolozzi, King has become one of the key international sculptors of the last 50 years.

Phillip King will be in conversation with Dr Jon Wood, Research Curator at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds, and co-editor of Sculpture Journal. He has published widely and curated exhibitions about modern and contemporary sculpture, and has a particular research interest in the artist's studio. He is co-curating an Arts Council exhibition called Making It: Sculpture in Britain 1977-1986, opening at Longside Gallery in April 2015.

To coincide with two new displays at Tate Britain, which include work donated by the artist in 1978, Tate’s new Henry Moore Foundation research fellow celebrates the sculptor’s gift
