Audio Description Tour: Fire and Water

16 July 2018 at 12.00–13.15

Free for Members

John Constable, Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows exhibited 1831. Tate.

Blind and partially sighted visitors and companions are invited to join us to find out more about John Constable's masterpiece

Fire and Water display at Tate Britain pairs masterpieces by J.M.W. Turner and John Constable. We will focus particularly on Constable's painting Salisbury Cathedral from the Meadows. Considered by Constable to have been his greatest work, this painting reveals through its symbols and details the changing times of Georgian England. We will also have access to a sample of the newly created frame for this work which we will be able handle and discuss the techniques of recreating neoclassical ornamented picture frames.

Please meet in the Manton Studio from 10.30am for tea, coffee and cakes.
