Celebrate Me Bunting Workshop

29 November 2017 at 13.00–16.00
Celebrate Me bunting workshop

Image coutesy of Leah Jones

Join self-advocate Leah Jones and artist-facilitator Jade French for a free drop-in activity and create your own piece of bunting as part of a unique arts display

Recognising and celebrating people’s lives and achievements, this workshop is inspired by the famed feminist slogan ‘the personal is political’.

This activity is suitable for all ages and abilities and part of Art, Activism, Language; Feminist Issues in Museums and Galleries.

About

Leah Jones is self-advocate, artist and activist for rights of people with learning disabilities and Down Syndrome. Leah is the director of her own business Positive You, which aims to give people with learning disabilities confidence and self-esteem through art making, transforming attitudes about disability along the way.

Jade French is an artist-facilitator, writer and researcher. Jade predominantly works alongside people with the label of learning disability to explore the intersections of art, disability and social change, often examining constructs of access, agency and inclusion through collaboratively producing, curating and commissioning visual art. Jade is currently undertaking PhD research and is a director of The Royal Standard gallery and studios.
