In Conversation about Jackson Pollock

Join Catherine Marcangeli, curator of First Happenings: Adrian Henri in the ‘60s and ‘70s, currently at ICA London, and Stephanie Straine, curator at Tate Liverpool, as they discuss the life and work of Jackson Pollock.

Dr Stephanie Straine is Assistant Curator, Exhibitions and Displays, at Tate Liverpool, where since 2012 she has contributed to exhibitions including Chagall: Modern Master; Palle Nielsen: The Model; Liverpool Biennial 2014: Claude Parent; Transmitting Andy Warhol; György Kepes; Glenn Ligon: Encounters and Collisions and Jackson Pollock: Blind Spots. Straine worked as Curatorial Assistant and subsequently Exhibitions Organiser at The Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh from 2006 to 2009, and has lectured widely at universities and art colleges throughout the UK, publishing articles and catalogue essays on artists including Vija Celmins, Alex Hay, Marc Chagall, Jackson Pollock and Franz Erhard Walther, co-curating the first UK solo exhibition of Walther at the Drawing Room, London in 2012.

Catherine Marcangeli is a Paris-based art historian and curator. She is Senior Lecturer at Paris University, specialising in art since the 1960s. As the executor of the Estate of Adrian Henri, she has edited his Selected and Unpublished Poems, 1965-2000 (LUP, 2007), developed the website adrianhenri.com and catalogued his Total Artarchive. She has also curated exhibitions of his work in the UK and abroad, including Adrian Henri – Total Art at LJMU’s Exhibition Research Centre, as part of the 2014 Liverpool Biennial, and touring. She edited Adrian Henri – Total Artist (London: Occasional Papers, 2014).
