Join art historian Amy Dempsey for a talk unravelling the daunting language of modern art

Are you an art lover and want to know more? This talk will give you all the background knowledge you need for your enjoyment and understanding, whether you are an avid gallery-goer, armchair enthusiast or curious observer.

In Modern Art Amy Dempsey maps styles, schools and movements that help us understand modern and contemporary art. Modern Art has a practical and easy-to-navigate structure and carefully selected artworks to define sixty-eight essential groupings in western modern art. Each feature presents an explanation, characteristic works, and a list of key artists, attributes, media and collections. A reference section provides a glossary of modern art terms and an index of artists.

Alfio Bonanno, Finn Eirik Modahl, Chris Drury and Ivan Klapez will be joining Amy Dempsey for the Q&A session following the talk.

This event is in collaboration with Thames & Hudson.
