Hackoustic

25 July 2015 at 13.30–22.30

Do you want to experience the hidden sounds of shelf-brackets, coat hangers or circular saw blades? Come and see us! We'll be showing a variety of projects made by our members including twitter enabled drones, laser driven sound synthesis an an instrument powered entirely by moss. There’ll also be a gong quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen.

Biography

Hackoustic is a community group based at the London Hackspace. We meet monthly to experiment with sound, make instruments and explore acoustics in any way that seems interesting. Our meetings are open to anyone whatever their level of expertise and collaborations between members with a wide variety of backgrounds is common. We provide a constructive environment where members learn from each other and make things that otherwise would not have been possible. We always try to incorporate some element of acoustic sound generation into our projects - actual vibrating objects and strings - rather than purely electronic sounds, although there are plenty of computers and electronics in the mix.
