Cloud Communities and the Online Gallery

Future Talks courtesy Dan Weill Photography

A talk investigating the role of the traditional gallery in a world of digital alternatives

With an increasing amount of artist turning to digital spaces to exhibit their work and connect with likeminded creatives, what role does the traditional gallery play?

Online spaces are providing young and marginalised groups with the tools and space to rally together and form Cloud Communities in order to help overcome institutional barriers, foster creativity and exhibit artistic output. But where does that leave the role of the physical gallery?

In this forum, Protein, along with Campbell Addy of Nii Journal, Meryem Meg, Amrou Al-Kahdi and Tia Simon-Campbell and Nadine Davies of BBZ London, will explore the relationship between the online and physical gallery space, the young collectives that inhabit them, and how they can better inform one another.

Curated in collaboration with Protein.
