Jamie Whelligan
Hailing from The Wirral Peninsula (a mere stone’s throw from Liverpool), songwriter and singer Jamie Whelligan is a pop troubadour in the classic late 1960s mode. One of those ever present characters who seems weirdly displaced in the modern world, Whelligan’s songs mine that vein of melodic, English psychedelic guitar pop. Last year saw the first of a new crop of Whelligan tunes, and his forthcoming album ‘Your Countercultural Cache’ is lined up for release in Autumn’24 An avid listener (and reader) of pop music (mostly 60s/70s/80s), Jamie has also accumulated a large repertoire of material over the years; ranging from The Beatles to Bowie, from Erasure to The Smiths ...and all kinds of familiar (and often unfamiliar) places in between. Many years of busking on the London Underground have merely served to hone this craft He has received plenty of airplay on BBC6 Music with his band Annexe The Moon
Nick Frater
Joining Jamie on keyboards is British multi-instrumentalist and producer, Nick Frater Based in Croydon, England, Nick’s music has drawn frequent comparisons to Bacharach, as well as Cheap Trick, Jellyfish, Beatles and Elliott Smith. A prolific songwriter and music creator he has released ten albums over the last decade, all of which have received critical acclaim in the underground music press including: Aerodrome Motel (2022 ***** Shindig!) Earworms (2021 album of the year Powerpopaholic) Fast & Loose (2020 ***** Shindig!) He has also recently released a 2nd Rebutles album….a self penned spoof project reimagining the solo careers of The Rutles. Frater has also become something of a ‘songwriter’s songwriter’ collaborating with several luminaries of the melodic-rock world such as Roger Joseph Manning Jr (Beck/Jellyfish), Darian Sahanaja (Brian Wilson/Wondermints), Johnny Echols (Love), Chris Farlowe, Mike Randle (Love/Baby Lemonade).
