Join us for a series of events exploring kinship, community and archives

This autumn at Tate Modern, we will celebrate the work of Black queer artists and cultural producers in London and South Africa. Join us for music, performances, mentoring days, talks, roundtables and a special evening celebration.

This event series is inspired by the work of Topher Campbell and Zanele Muholi. More events to be added soon.

All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.

There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Nathalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses
  • A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks

To help plan your visit to Tate Modern, have a look at our visual story. It includes photographs and information about what you can expect from a visit to the gallery.

Performing Genders, Performing Selves

How do you perform your identity? The artists in this room reflect on how gender and identity are constructed and enacted: a kind of performance of the self

Dark room, a curved wall is constructed from metal riveted together, in the middle is a point of light and some text in raised letters in the metal.

Felix Gonzalez-Torres

Gonzalez-Torres presents a tender study of transience, loss and eternal renewal in this minimalist light installation
