Join Latin American Women's Aid and Migrants in action for an afternoon celebrating the lives and contributions of the women who came before us.
Take part in an immersive and inclusive procession where Latin American women will share music, poems, dance and objects in a circle as an offering to our ancestors.
Following the traditions in Latin America, the community will gather on the ground floor of Tate Modern and then walk up to Tate Exchange, singing traditional music followed by percussions. We encourage you to join us on the procession along the way, collaborating and immersing yourself in the ritual as preparation for the circle of sharing. Once at Tate Exchange, the Latin American community will perform the traditional rituals, and as the main performance comes to an end, visitors will be invited to also share and take part in the ceremony.
About Latin American Women's Aid
Latin American Women’s Aid (LAWA) runs the only two refuges in Europe by and for Latin American women and children fleeing gender-based violence. We also offer holistic and intersectional services, providing everything a BME woman needs to recover from abuse and live empowered lives.
About Migrants in Action
MinA is a Theatre Programme for Brazilian women who experience gender-based violence in London and traumas due to the migration process. It provides a safe space where females can be themselves, speak their own language, creatively share stories and reflect on their own choices.
