Tate Modern Workshop

We Are All Campaigners Communication tools for social change

24 October 2018 at 16.00–17.30
25 October 2018 at 16.00–17.30
Our Neighbours at Tate Exchange

Join a workshop on using digital and communication tools to take agency and disrupt the narrative

Democracy depends on them – political power should fear them - but never have the mainstream media been so distrusted by the public, who increasingly feel that the press serves the political interests of whoever happens to own it. We never elected them. We never said they could control our stories.

Now more than ever, it’s up to us, ordinary citizens to reclaim that space, to use our agency and the tools in our hands to tell our own stories.
The good news is, most of us have that power - mobile phone technology - to counter dominant narratives by sharing the stories that matter to us.
This workshop, in 90 minutes, will equip you with skills to film short ‘no need for editing’ films for action. We will help give voice to different kinds of stories, that the establishment silences, censors, leaves out. You will help get the message out.

What you will need:
A mobile phone with a full battery, videos take up a lot of space, so make sure you have enough memory, too.
A burning issue you want to campaign about.

This event is hosted by Isabel Cortes of CORA campaign communications.
