The London Cider Salon returns to Tate Modern for a fourth year on Sunday of the second Bank Holiday weekend in May, offering an intimate opportunity to taste an exceptional range of the finest ciders and perries from the UK and around the world. You’ll get to sample the season’s best bottles, and meet the makers themselves.
This is not mass market cider, which is often made from water and apple concentrate, this is the drink Laurie Lee called the 'wine of wild orchards', and diarist John Evelyn titled 'the native wine of England'.
From classic styles and innovative blends, to the same method used to make Champagne, and dessert wine like Ice Cider, made up near the arctic in Scandinavia - this is not cider as you know it from the supermarket...
But this is also a chance to celebrate orchards, the biodiversity and environmental positives they can provide. A renaissance is underway in the world of cider, it’s been steadily gaining momentum over the last decade, and The London Cider Salon is the ideal way to explore it.
All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner Street.
