Come explore and listen to Tate Modern’s art and have fun creating your own unique sound

Inspired by materials and sounds in Tate's collection, you’ll get to explore your own way to create and listen to the sounds of materials. Discover the many ways you can make and listen to all kinds of unusual noises!

Join us in Make Studio Rhythm, to have fun creating together or you can listen carefully and quietly to the sounds being made. What sounds can you make with found materials, voice and body? With materials, objects, recorders, microphones and speakers provided, families are invited to get loud or quiet down and make art to listen to.

On Wednesdays Under 5s can explore sensory sound-making objects. Playing with tubes, surfaces and strings, families can play with creating sounds and rhythms together.

Our Make Studio: Rhythm continues during February half-term with more activities helping you make noisy, silly (or quiet) sound art.

Ear defenders will be available.

UNIQLO Tate Play Make Studio Rhythm is produced in consultation with Dan Scott

All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.

There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Nathalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.

  • Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.
  • A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4.
  • Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks.
