Get ready to create your own standout artwork in our next Holiday Make Studio: Threads!
Taking inspiration from the vibrant collection works of fibre artists Cecilia Vicuña and Magdalena Abakanowicz we will experiment with weaving and knitting, big and small.
For Threads Expanded, there’ll be plenty to do: We want whole family to knit together to create a big cylinder-shaped artwork using reels of threads on our large looms in the Turbine Hall. And there’ll be lots to see: Inspired by Knitting Nancy, there’ll be giant versions of the classic knitting tool for the little ones to enjoy.
You’ll work together to weave your ideas through stitching, looping and colouring different textiles, which can be hung, draped and added to what will be a fun, soft space for families to sit and watch as all the different creations come to life.
It’s all about having fun with fabrics and all the possibilities of threads!
All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner street.
