Sunday

Here are those six photos I mentioned in my letter, arrived just yesterday. The long painting was photographed at an early stage and doesn’t show much.

I paint with the worst conscience in the world. Letters to future mortal enemies await replies; reparation business awaits resolution; complicated calculations for a tax return are intermingled with glue, sketches, newspapers; a tooth, the cornerstone of my maxillary mechanism, is slowly but surely deteriorating; there are bills to be paid, which again calls for writing, and if I’m painting I can’t write, and [if] etc.

My friend Hamann has promised to take some colour photographs of my colour pictures for me at cost price.

I hope to see you soon – and we must start that portrait.

Oh, by the way, do you still have that photo of my self-portrait (Drian) and the photo of the other Orgler photos? I’d be grateful if you could send me the numbers so I can order new ones.

In haste,

Sincerely,

Erich
