Bell is pregnant with their child Angelica; she is cleaning up Charleston where Clive Bell and Mary Hutchinson are conducting their affair, and reading Molly MacCarthy's new novel, 'A pier and a band' (1918). She encloses a list of expenses for their work on the designs for Jacques Copeau's production of Maeterlinck's 'Pelléas et Mélisande'.
