Letter from Vanessa Bell, Charleston, East Sussex, to Duncan Grant. Bell is pregnant with their child Angelica; she is cleaning up Charleston where Clive Bell and Mary Hutchinson are conducting their affair, and reading Molly MacCarthy's new novel, 'A pier and a band' (1918). She encloses a list of expenses for their work on the designs for Jacques Copeau's production of Maeterlinck's 'Pelléas et Mélisande'. Also mentions her servants Emily and Jenny Pratt and Trissie Selwood, the Ballets Russes, Barbara Hiles, Lytton Strachey, and Leonard and Virginia Woolf
