- Title
- Letter from Marion Milner to Anton Ehrenzweig, enclosing a letter from Sylvia Payne
- Date
- 20–22 September 1966
- Description
- Letter from Milner enclosing a letter she had received from the psychoanalyst Sylvia Payne (1880-1976) commenting on work by Ehrenzweig. Payne attacks Ehrenzweig's ideas: 'What does Ehrenzweig think he is doing- I have never read a chapter so full of a mass of theories & ideas mixed up together.' Milner is more conciliatory, explaining that Payne was reacting to Ehrenzweig's description of psychoanalytic theory as 'in shambles'.
