Description

This long letter sent by Barbara Hepworth to Margaret Gardiner concerns personal news. Hepworth writes about the recent argument between Ben [Nicholson] and Adrian [Stokes], she writes about her disagreement with Margaret [Mellis] regarding the situation. Hepworth also writes about Jim Ede visiting and his charming attitude towards the children, she says that he lent her a beautiful Miro painting for the studio as well as buying three works by Nicholson. Hepworth writes that it might have saved their lives as she wasn't able to pay recent bills. Hepworth asks Gardiner for financial help to continue paying the hospital bill for her daughter Sarah. She also writes about her and Nicholson's reputations being on the rise and says that they are receiving many requests and are preparing for their respective monographs.
