Description

Graphite, crayon, chalk, pastel, and watercolour on paper, 69 pages, 6 pages and covers are missing, 180 × 115 mm

The drawings in this sketchbook include about twenty studies for 'Noli Me Tangere' trying out different settings and different arrangements of the figures. This picture, painted for Chichester Cathedral, was commissioned in 1960 and dedicated on 5 April 1961. There are further studies for it in Sketchbooks: 17, 29, 34 and 35, all of which probably overlap to some extent with this one.
