Description

Graphite, crayon, chalk, ink, and watercolour on paper, 69 pages, two inserts, 3 pages and covers are missing, 228 × 178 mm

Half the drawings in this sketchbook are of Venice or Venetian subjects, and include sketches of San Marco and the Salute; several are studies for paintings of 1962 or 1963. A study for 'Noli Me Tangere' and two for details of the figure of Christ in the Coventry tapestry appear to date from 1961. The other drawings are of nature themes and include several studies of toads made for pictures of 1961-62. Nearly half the pages are blank.
