Description

Margaret Barr informs J. Lipchitz that she has completed her task and his papers are in the hands of the Commission which is occupied of this kind of things (evidently, the immigration to the USA). These papers were also sent by the Commission to Ministry of Justice. American visa was issued and cabled to American Center in Marceille. It was [gallery owner] Brummer who gave a financial affidavit, and the Museum [MOMA, New York] gave guarantees that Lipchitz is not engaged in any political activities. M.Barr also informs Lipchitz on the details of their correspondence with J.Bucher, and particularly on her idea to make a commission to J.Lipchitz on making of a [sculptural] work. This letter was kept with a draft answer from J. Lipchitz, dated 10 December 1940 in the envelope dated 20 December 1940.
