These 179 drawings and lithographs cover the period 1896 to 1942. The drawings are in pencil, pastel or crayon on a variety of different coloured papers and card. As well as portraits and farm scenes there are also drawings Rothenstein made on a long trip to India in 1910-11 and others which date from his service as an official war artist in both world wars. There are also 10 drawings by other artists and these have been arranged at the end of the collection.
