The interior is the hall of 67 Ladbroke Grove, London, W.11, the house which belonged to the artist's parents and where he lived from about 1890 until about 1920. A drawing of the interior, done from the same spot as the picture, was reproduced in various periodicals when the painting was first exhibited.
