Catalogue entry

The ruinous gatehouse and north range of Roslin Castle – identifiable from the shape of the fragments and the remains of a bartizan turret – is seen from the approach to the north-east. Between the ruins can be seen part of the more intact East Range to which habitable dwellings were added in the 1770s. A view of the same ruins from the side are on folio 17 (D13481) of this sketchbook.
