Catalogue entry

The view is north from High Rock on the outskirts of Bridgnorth, looking up the valley of the meandering River Severn, past Astley Abbotts on the left in the direction of modern-day Telford. The composition is repeated on a smaller scale on the recto (D22289). At the bottom are details of buildings, those on the left apparently with boats beside them, probably on the riverfront at Bridgnorth. For other views of the town, see under folio 1 recto (D22151).
