Coffee by Tate began in 2011, sourcing and roasting specialty coffee for Tate's galleries. In 2016, we launched the Gender Equality Project with SMC and DR Wakefield, with the aim of addressing gender imbalance in the coffee supply chain by sourcing equally between female and male producers.
Over the past ten years, the project has built lasting relationships with producers around the world, championing women coffee producers and family farmers while investing in quality, sustainability and equality at origin.
To celebrate the GEP's tenth anniversary, we're bringing together three exclusive selections from producers and partners connected to the project: two coffees from Brazil and a 70% dark chocolate from a female-led cocoa school in Nicaragua.
Coffee tasting 16.00–17.00
Join Coffee by Tate and DR Wakefield for a special tasting featuring coffees from female producers, including an exclusive coffee from Carmen Lúcia Chaves de Brito at Fazenda Caxambu, Brazil. Coffee by Tate has worked with Carmen Lúcia since the GEP began in 2016.
The tasting will also feature an exclusive coffee from Manassés Sampaio Dias, a producer from Divinolândia, Brazil, whose coffee Coffee by Tate has sourced since 2016.
The coffee tasting is free, with limited places available.

Celebrations 17.00 onwards
Stay for an evening of drinks made with the exclusive GEP coffee from Carmen Lúcia, alongside 70% dark chocolate from Semilla Escuela Cacao in Nicaragua. With a great line-up of craft beers on the bar and a special playlist by the Roastery team, join us as we celebrate 15 years of Coffee by Tate, 10 years of the Gender Equality Project and the producers and relationships that have shaped the project.
All Tate Modern entrances are step-free. You can enter via the Turbine Hall and into the Natalie Bell Building on Holland Street, or into the Blavatnik Building on Sumner Street.
There are lifts to every floor of the Blavatnik and Natalie Bell buildings. Alternatively you can take the stairs.
- Fully accessible toilets are located on every floor on the concourses.
- A quiet room is available to use in the Natalie Bell Building on Level 4.
- Ear defenders can be borrowed from the Ticket desks.
