Coco Maria

Music has been a constant in Coco Maria’s life since she was very little. This is what it’s like to be born in a country as sonorous as Mexico: on the other side of the window there is always a song playing.

Now based in Amsterdam, Coco Maria has transformed her musical heritage into a vibrant and elegant force that continues to discover and make Latin sounds travel to the most unexpected corners. Since her morning radio show on Worldwide FM, Gilles Peterson’s online radio station, catapulted her onto the international scene, she has toured across all five continents.

Her unique style fuses the best of tropical music with her interpretation of modernity, creating warm and distinctive sets that connect cultures, eras and stories. Through her selections, Coco Maria has established herself as a unique storyteller, capable of weaving emotions through music and inviting audiences to be carried away by rhythms that tell all kinds of stories.

Melomaniacs

Melomaniacs is a London-based collective celebrating global sounds, selectors and the shared experience of music. For this special evening at Tate Modern, they bring together a line-up of DJs exploring the connections between Latin, soul, jazz, funk and beyond.

Mister Zed

Gian, AKA Mister Zed, cut his teeth in Italy’s FM radio scene from a young age and is an avid record collector. Based in London and hosting shows for Melomaniacs, G-Shock Radio and Brixton Radio, Mister Zed’s open-format sets span acid jazz, funk, afrobeat, hip hop, Latin, deep house, dub and beyond.

Adele

Adele is a deep and thoughtful selector and presenter of Music Healing Force of the Universe on the Melomaniacs’ Mixcloud, where she plays an eclectic mix of gospel, soul, funk and Latin music.

She has played at We Out Here festival and more recently as part of the Go Barefoot / Melomaniacs collaboration in Sète and Neuchâtel alongside Rebecca Vasmant, bringing her considered approach and wide-ranging selections to audiences around the world.
