Gesture and Sound With Art on the Underground

Explore the relationship between movement, sound and meaning

Join artist Emma Smith and gesture language experts in a series of workshops, discussion and live performance.

The day will include contributions from an expert on human gesture and meaning, a workshop with a British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter exploring feelings and silent expression, and will culminate in a gestural orchestral performance. Residents from Nine Elms will be working with Emma Smith on the day.

12.00 Talk and round table discussion with the artist and invited guests
14.00 BSL workshop
15.00 Workshop on gesture
16.00 Performance of gestural orchestra
