Modern Art Journal

© Modern Art Journal by Mary Richards

To celebrate the launch of her new book writer and illustrator Mary Richards will be leading a tour for kids

This interactive introduction to looking at modern art will begin in the Start Display on Level 2. Mary will then introduce them to some of the works from In the Studio, working with them on a selection of activity pages from the book. They should bring pens and pencils, and lots of ideas!

Modern Art Journal is an activity book that encourages children to write and think about art for themselves. It invites them to respond to questions, compose stories and poems, doodle and make their own notes in response to the art and ideas they discover. With a sketchbook binding and funky graphic design, The Modern Art Journal will get kids scribbling and thinking – the perfect tool for the next generation of budding art critics.

Mary will be signing copies of the book in the Tate Modern Terrace shop at 3.30pm. No booking required for the signing.
