Explore the spaces and communities where culture happens

What is ‘high’ and ‘low’ culture? Where is culture produced? Inspired by Joseph Beuys’s Information Action, join a collective of five young Londoners from Tate Collective and five young Rotterdammers to take part in an interactive zine. A series of lab stations will explore the cultural, communal and personal spaces where culture is produced today.

TENT x Tate culminates in a live discussion with writer and poet Abondance Matanda, artist and curator Hamed Maiye and sound artist, activist and youth worker Hannah Kemp-Welch. Join us to question and debate the idea of difference in a creative, cultural and spatial context.

Our cities are vibrant with young cultural producers working with fashion, photography, spoken word, moving image and digital. How does the museum connect with spaces and communities where culture is produced in the city? What belongs in an institution for contemporary art, and what doesn’t?

With spatial design by IN SITU.

TENT x Tate is a collaboration between TENT platform for contemporary art in Rotterdam and Tate Young People’s Programmes.
